Some Background
[updated for 2018]
The purpose of this blog is to discuss my latest hiking/backpacking trips and plans. I mostly hike in the NorthCentral Pa and eastern NY as well as Adirondack areas. For example, I have backpacked/hiked the following trails in PA and NY in their entirety :
Black Forest Trail
Susquehannock Trail System (twice)
West Rim Trail
Bucktail Path
Allegheny Front Trail
Chuck Keiper Trail
Quehanna Trail
Old Loggers Path
Rimrock-Morrison Trail
Hickory Creek Trail
Golden Eagle Trail
Donut Hole Trail
Northville-Placid Trail
Loyalsock Trail
Elk Trail
East Branch Sacandaga Trail
Taconic Crest Trail

Taconic Crest Trail
Plus, I have hiked several sections of the Mid-State Trail.
In NY I have hiked a number of the 46 high peaks (I am not really much on peak bagging these days) and many pieces of the Long Path.
I have also hiked pieces of the AT in NH, MA, NC (maybe someday I will get to do the whole thing), a number of the White Mountains in NH, many of the trails in RI and various trails in Missouri (such as pieces of the Ozark Trail) and Nevada (a piece of the Tahoe Rim Trail).
I am currently a member of the ADK, AMC, THC, AHS, and STC clubs.
I mention these only to give you an idea of my experience and dedication level to the sport of hiking. There are many others with more experience and expertise, but I do the best I can with the limited time available to me for hiking (I work full time and have a daughter in high school).
Places I would like to hike:
thru-hike the AT
circuit hike the Tahoe Rim Trail
any trail in Yosemite
any trail in Alaska
So please bear (no pun intended) with me as I work out my hiking and backpacking plans for the future. Maybe I will see you on the trail!
