Third Day Hike of 2019

Third Day Hike - 2019

I did another day hike in June (Father's Day to be precise), choosing the trails in Moreau Lake State Park. As I have covered this park before I will leave out the basic info and focus on the walk itself.I started from the boat launch parking area where the trail heads uphill past power lines into the woods. The skies were gray when I started and threatened rain. After getting most of the way uphill I stopped at a trail intersection. Another couple out hiking stopped a second to greet me and ask if I was lost (I wasn't). I headed in a northerly direction with the intent of reaching Lake Ann. After some time on the ridge I reached the junction with the purple trail (the trail to Lake Ann). I have been on this trail before so there was nothing new, but I paid attention to where the trail went by the lean-to (the only one in the park I believe). It doesn't seem to get much use I think. It felt like a long walk to Lake Ann but eventually I got there. Soon after I arrived and started to eat my lunch the rain picked up. I took the below picture anyway.

It had been a nicer day the last time I was here so I was a bit disappointed by the weather. I stayed long enough only to eat my lunch and then returned. Upon reaching the junction of the purple trail
I decided to take the connector trail to the West Ridge Trail. This trail was relatively short but pleasant to on walk on despite the rain. However, when I reached the West Ridge Trail the wet conditions made it less than ideal to walk on due to the rocks. Plus, a couple of sections were less obvious and I had to correct my route. Eventually I reached the connector trail to my original route. From here I headed downhill and after some more walking reached my vehicle. This was not my favorite hike due to the rain (again!) it was nice to get out in the woods.
