Last Day Hikes of 2019

The Last Day Hikes of 2019

I took a couple of day hikes to finish out 2019. The first was on trails linked to the Susquehannock Trail at the end of August. I started out at the STS northern trailhead and hiked the eastern side of the loop (aka the Ridge trail), crossing Thompson Rd, until I reached the junction with the Will and Betty Ahn trail.

Trail Junction

It seems to be a little used trail and the foot-way wasn't well established. There was a turn or two that wasn't real obvious but I managed to figure out where to go. There was a view of sorts before I eventually reached a junction with the Billy Brown Trail.

Not long after I reached the Losey Trail. This trail was a wide 'double track' trail that was easy to follow.

After passing an open area, the trail went steadily downhill. After some time it came to a the camp (or home) below. narrow dirt road.

Camp alongside the trail

The trail basically went right past the camp and came out to a dirt road. The trail followed this road for a long stretch, finally reaching a junction with another road where there was a small parking area.

Terminus of the Losey Trail

I turned around here and returned to the trail by the camp. Here I had my lunch and when done I returned back up the Losey Trail until I reached an ATV trail that required a hundred yard walk to reach the STS/Ridge Trail.

Junction with STS

I walked back on this section of the STS until I reached the trailhead again.
