After a long hiatus (sorry) I have taken up this blog again. I am still planning a trip on the Donut Hole Trail (Pa) this summer if I can get the time off from work. My most recent day hike (A couple of weeks ago) was on the Mid-State trail in Pennsylvania. That hike started at Little Pine State park and went north 5 miles before turning around. The weather was gray and there were few vistas so there are no pictures here from that hike. Besides the three steep climbs, the noise from gas well drilling was pervasive.I was only able to escape by by hiking in the 'hollows' as the activity was at the top of a nearby hill. Such activity makes enjoying the serenity of the woods very difficult.
Anyway, I am moving along planning my trip on the Donut Hole trail. Besides the timing issue (Its been really busy at work this year!) my other considerations are trail head logistics (getting to the trail head with my car and being dropped off at the other end (the trail is a 90 mile linear trail). Last year I used the special shuttle to get back to the start, but no such shuttle exists (anymore) for the Donut Hole. I will try to arrange with someone to help me, but it is not a trivial concern.
